ROSEVILLE- Roseville Police shot and killed a 35-year-old man after responding to a domestic disturbance call Saturday night.
Police responded to a residence on the 1600 block of Sierra Gardens Drive at 10:53 p.m. after they received a report of a very intoxicated man pushing a woman and being armed with a baseball bat, said Roseville Police Public Information Officer Dee Dee Gunther.
As officers were responding, the man fled on foot through the residential neighborhood and a resident reported seeing the man running and holding a gun, Gunther said.
Officers located the man on the 1700 block of Tanglewood Lane and attempted to take him into custody, but he resisted and physically fought with one of the officers, Gunther said.
Gunther said the other officer at the scene feared for the safety of his fellow officer and shot the suspect.
The 35-year-old man from Roseville, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man's identity is being withheld until his family can be notified by the Placer County Coroner's Office.
Neighbor Lindsay Bradley heard the shots fired.
"I heard three shots and I came outside," said Bradley.
She believed Saturday night's incident should have ended without lethal force.
"I don't think it's worth taking somebody's life-- who has two young children and a wife," said Bradley. "I think he should have listened. But I don't think he should have been shot dead. I think there were other ways to handle the situation."
" said Bradley. "
The Incident is being investigated by the Roseville Police Investigations Unit, and will be monitored by the Placer County District Attorney's Officer according to the department's protocol for officer-involved shootings.
The two officers involved in the shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave.
